History of Pine Grove Cemetery

The first burial occurred in 1745 when Nathaniel Jones was buried in what was then known as Falmouth Point. On January 17, 1885, seven prominent townsmen formed an incorporated society in the Town of Falmouth under the name of Pine Grove Cemetery Corporation for the improvement and care for the cemetery.

The following March they obtained deeds of release to this Corporation from the Town of Falmouth and from the First Parish of Falmouth of all rights, titles, and interests in and to the then so-called Point Cemetery. There were 462 grave sites at that time.
