1.    Who owns Pine Grove Cemetery?
A.    Pine Grove Cemetery is a closed Not-for-Profit corporation.     

2.    Who oversees the Pine Grove Cemetery’s operations?
A.    A non-compensated Board of Directors is responsible for the operations of Pine Grove Cemetery, which includes financial oversight and general maintenance of the cemetery. The cemetery’s superintendent oversees the daily operations of the cemetery at the discretion of the board.

3.    When is Pine Grove Cemetery open for burials?
A.    The cemetery is open (weather permitting) from May 1st through November 15th for full and cremation internments. The cemetery requires an advanced notice of 72 hours on full burials and a 48-hour notice on cremation burials.

4.    What are Pine Grove Cemetery’s hours of operation?
A.    From April 15th through November 15th the cemetery is open from sunrise to sunset. General business hours are from 8am until 4pm Monday through Friday. Saturday hours are only available for internments. The cemetery is closed for business on Sundays. During the winter months (December 15th – April 14th), US mail, email and phone messages are checked every other day.

5.    When is water available for flowers?
A.    The cemetery typically provides water for flowers from mid-May through mid-October.

6.    How does Pine Grove Cemetery generate revenue for its daily operations?
A.    Revenue is generated from investment income, donations, cemetery lot sales, internments and fees for other services other than perpetual care.
 
7.    What services are provided under perpetual care?
A.    Perpetual Care services are included in the general maintenance of the cemetery. These services include mowing and weed whacking of the grounds, annual shrub trimming, storm damage clean up, tree cutting, removal of diseased trees, tree planting and road maintenance.

8.    What other services does the Pine Grove Cemetery provide for a fee?
A.    Pine Grove Cemetery can provide services for monument cleaning, shrub removal, shrub planting, flush/ground marker removal and installation, monument removal and installation, floral planting, holiday basket and wreath placements. You can receive a quote from the superintendent for these services.

9.    Can I have flowers planted or holiday baskets placed for display on a pre-paid basis by Pine Grove Cemetery?
A.    Yes: a 10-year bond is available.  

10.   How do I pay for services provided by Pine Grove Cemetery?
A.    Pine Grove Cemetery only accepts checks as payment for its services.

11.   How large is a burial lot?
A.    A full burial lot is 10’ by 4’. A cremation lot is 4’ by 3’.

12.   How many internments can a lot accommodate?
A.    A full burial lot can accommodate 1 full burial and up to an additional 6 cremation burials. A cremation lot can accommodate 2 cremation burials.

13.   What type of monument or flush/ground marker can be placed on a lot?
A.    One full lot can accommodate up to 3 flush/ground markers. A cremation lot can accommodate 1 flush/ground marker. Above ground monuments are only permitted when you own two or more adjacent full lots.

14.   How do I purchase a lot?
A.    Contact Pine Grove Cemetery’s office at 207-781-2357 for a cemetery walk through, if you are interested in possibly purchasing a lot(s).  

15.   After I purchase a lot(s), what is the process for selecting a monument or flush/ground marker?
A.    Monuments and flush/ground markers are typically provided by a local monument company. Military flush/ground markers are typically requested at time of death by the funeral home, as part of their services. Heirs of the deceased can also request a military marker from the Veterans Administration.

PLEASE NOTE; Pine Grove Cemetery requires approval for all monument(s) and flush/ground maker(s) as they relate to inscriptions, size, designs and colors associated with such monuments and/or flush/ground markers.
